Requirements
macOS 12 or later on Intel and Apple Silicon. Windows 10 or 11 on x64.
Permissions
Screen recording for snips and OCR. Microphone and system audio for live transcription. Both are requested on first use.
Updates
The app checks for a newer version shortly after launch and tells you. Downloads are never automatic — you decide when to install.
Installation
Set up in five steps
Pick your platform. Both take about the same amount of time.
macOS
- 1Open the downloaded .dmg from your Downloads folder.
- 2Drag URHIRED AI into your Applications folder.
- 3Open URHIRED AI from Applications.
- 4Grant Screen Recording permission when macOS asks — screenshots and OCR need it.
- 5Grant Microphone permission so live transcription can hear the interview.
Windows
- 1Run the downloaded .exe installer.
- 2Allow microphone access when Windows prompts.
- 3Allow screen capture when Windows prompts.
- 4Launch URHIRED AI from the Start menu.
- 5If capture fails, open Settings → Permissions in the app to jump straight to Windows privacy settings.
A note on the first-launch warning
Current builds are not yet code-signed, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen will show a warning the first time you open the app.
On macOS: right-click URHIRED AI in Applications and choose Open, then confirm.
On Windows: click More info, then Run anyway.
You only need to do this once. Code signing is on our roadmap.
Troubleshooting
If something is not working
Screenshots come back blank
Screen recording permission has not been granted. On macOS, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, enable URHIRED AI, then restart the app.
Transcription is not picking anything up
Check the audio device menu in the interview control bar and confirm system audio is selected. Settings → Permissions runs a diagnostic and tells you exactly what is missing.
The overlay is showing in my screen share
Confirm undetectable mode is enabled, and share a window or screen rather than a browser tab. Run a test call with yourself first.
Still stuck
Email support@urhiredai.com with your OS version and what you were doing. Settings → Contact Support sends it with diagnostics attached.
