Troubleshooting
The problems people actually hit, and what fixes them.
Screenshots come back blank or fail
Screen recording permission is missing. On macOS, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, enable URHIRED AI, and restart the app — the permission does not take effect until you do. On Windows, use Settings → Permissions in the app to jump to the right privacy pane.
Transcription is not picking anything up
- Check the audio device menu in the interview control bar — the wrong input may be selected.
- Confirm the capture mode is System, not Microphone, if you want the interviewer's voice.
- Run the diagnostic in Settings → Permissions; it names exactly what is missing.
- On macOS, system audio capture depends on screen recording permission.
The overlay is showing in my screen share
- Share a window or your whole screen rather than a browser tab.
- Confirm you are looking at the shared preview, not your own display.
- Some virtual-camera and streaming tools capture differently — test with the exact tool the interview will use.
A shortcut does nothing
Global shortcuts can collide with the OS or another running app, and the one that loses simply never fires. Rebind it in Settings → Hotkeys.
I cannot click anything in the overlay
Click-through is on. Press ⌘⌥⇧M to turn it off. The control bar shows shortcut hints on each button whenever this mode is active, which is the quickest way to tell.
Sign-in never completes
If the browser finishes but the app stays on the sign-in screen, close both and try again. If it persists, contact support — the diagnostic attached to an in-app support message includes the auth logs we need.
The OS says the app is unsafe
Current builds are unsigned, so this appears on first launch only. On macOS, right-click the app and choose Open. On Windows, click More info → Run anyway.
Still stuck
Use Settings → Contact Support — it attaches diagnostics automatically. Or email support@urhiredai.com with your OS version and what you were doing.
