Custom prompts

What to use them for

• Enforcing a length limit — "keep every answer under 90 seconds spoken".
• Fixing vocabulary — "say 'service' not 'microservice'".
• Framing seniority — "answer as a staff engineer, not a senior".
• Constraining examples — "only use examples from my last two roles".
• Setting a tone — "be direct; no hedging or filler openers".

Writing one that works

The app includes an authoring guide next to the editor with the supported variables. Two things matter more than anything else:

• Be specific. "Be concise" does very little. "Answer in at most four sentences" does a lot.
• Say what you want, not what you do not. "Lead with the outcome" beats "don't ramble".

Scope

Custom prompts stack with the answer style rather than replacing it. Style controls the shape of the response; the prompt controls its content and voice.
