Using URHIRED AI with Zoom

Zoom is where most technical interviews happen. URHIRED AI runs as a separate desktop overlay, so there is no Zoom app, plugin, or integration involved — and nothing for Zoom to report.

Audio

Zoom plays the interviewer through your system output, which is what the transcriber listens to. Keep the capture mode on System.

Screen sharing

Zoom offers three share modes: entire screen, a specific window, and a browser tab. Pick entire screen or a window. Tab sharing captures the page's own render surface and behaves differently from a desktop capture.

Setting it up

  1. 1

Start the session before you join

Launch your URHIRED AI session from the hub first, then join the Zoom call. The overlay is already positioned and transcription is warm.

  2. 2

    Position the overlay

Put the Zoom window on the left and the overlay on the right. Nudge it with ⌥ plus the arrow keys until it sits where your eyes naturally rest.

  3. 3

Share entire screen or a window

When the interviewer asks you to share, use Share Screen and pick your desktop or the specific window they need.

  4. 4

    Check the share preview

Zoom shows a green border around what you are broadcasting and a small self-preview. Confirm the overlay is not in it.

  5. 5

    Turn on click-through

Press ⌘⌥⇧M so your clicks pass through to Zoom and your editor while the overlay stays readable.

Worth knowing

  • Zoom's own annotation toolbar can overlap the overlay. Move the overlay to the opposite side of the screen if that happens.
  • If you join from the Zoom web client rather than the desktop app, screen sharing goes through the browser — test that combination separately.
  • Dual monitors work well: meeting on one display, overlay on the other, share only the display with your work on it.

Test before it counts

Start a call with yourself on Zoom, share your screen, and confirm the setup behaves the way you expect. Thirty seconds now beats guessing later. Verification steps →
